House for Vintage Furniture

House on Hawthorne is my favorite place to get vintage items. They have an extreme variety of items and they are usually quite affordable. Large furniture items such as couches and bed frames tend to be in the $200-$400 range. Smaller items such as tables, desks, dressers, and living room chairs tend …

Yolo Colorhouse

The third listing that I want to highlight from the Interior Design section of the ReDirect Guide is Yolo Colorhouse. The main Yolo Colorhouse product is “an environmentally responsible paint with a natural palette.”

What’s special about Yolo Colorhouse paint is that they create paints without VOC solvents, which are unhealthy both for your lungs …

Valerie Garret

I wanted to showcase a few of the Interior Design listings from the ReDirect Guide. The first is Valerie Garret, Urban Artisan LLC.

This artist specializes in “healing” gardens, restorative architecture, color consultation, and most importantly (for me), mosaic work.

The spectacular mosaics in public spaces are some of the most charming things about Portland. …

Landfair Furniture Moving to The Pearl District

I’m a big fan of what Mike and Bev from Landfair Furniture use their blog as both an informational interior design hub and as a way to promote their physical storefront. Now it looks like they are moving to a larger location in Portland’s Pearl District. Thats a pretty kick ass move and puts them …

Remember the adorable store Noun on Belmont that I mentioned way back in November? It sells a variety of household items for a variety of purposes (including old birdcages that are better for display or ornamentation rather than holding birds). Noun has cookie jars and cups, sugar bowls and flour canisters, furnishings …

Muu-Muu’s on 21st

I think my jaw dropped when I entered Muu-Muu’s on NW 21st. The first thing I saw was this bizarre lamp on a pedestal surrounded by candles. It was as if someone had cut the neck off a fat vase and covered it with fish scales that emit a soft yellow glow.
The overall …

Stone Fireplaces In Homes

I was visiting my parents’ home in Maryland earlier this week. Guests tend to be impressed when they enter the front door into a great room with a very high ceiling that includes both the living room and the dining area (and to an exent, the kitchen). But the most majestic thing about …
