Mercury Charity Gift Auction
Posted By LaurenThe Portland Mercury is having their annual online gift auction for charity. This year the benefiting charity is Resolutions Northwest a group that is helping people solve conflicts in their community without violence. You can read the Mercury article about them here.
There are a number of awesome items on auction, but here are a few I would like to highlight.
Custom Wallpaper From Design Your Wall
Design Your Wall has been featured on Extreme Home Makeover. This company will take drawings or photographs from you and create wallpaper from these images, or you can choose among their own fabulous designs. The wallpaper offered by this auction will cover a 64 squarefoot wall. Approximate value: $416
“Hunky Construction Worker”
I’m just going to quote the description from the newspaper. “Former Mercury Managing Editor PHIL BUSSE loves him some construction work! And with his sparking blue eyes, boyish blond curls, and strapping physique, you’ll love watching Phil do construction work—for two whole hours! Does that banister need fixin’? That drywall need hangin’? Do you just need to watch Phil parade around in tight overalls? Then don’t wait any longer—bid now and bid often!”
“Cool Boy Stuff”
This prize package includes a painting by Jesse Reno and paraphenalia from Velveteria, a museum of velvet paintings. The image next to this item in the online auction is an extremely erotic velvet painting. I can’t tell if it’s the painting you win from Jesse Reno (even though nothing on his website looks like that) or if it’s merely featured at Velveteria. In any case, you also get artwork from Too Much Coffee Man. And that’s the end of the art-related stuff, but this package also includes T-shirts from No Star, a gift certificate for Sameunderneath, and a gift certificate for Waypost.
The Mercury charity auction is open now. Bidding will end on Friday, December 16th at 5pm.
