Thanksgiving Centerpieces

Posted By Lauren

Thanksgiving centerpieces are one of those holiday luxuries that I always think would be nice to have, but I would never pay for. Even if I had lots of money and a big family to impress, I’m still not sure I’d spend the $50.00 or so to obtain one. I grew up in a frugal and creative family that believed in making ornaments ourselves. Whenever our parents wanted a Thanksgiving centerpiece, they would send us kids out into the dusk and the yard to scrounge up pincones, colorful leaves, and maybe the occasional attractive mushroom on a log, and then they would arrange them upon the tablecloth.

Still, I don’t fault anyone who buys a Thanksgiving centerpiece. I think they make the table set-up look very thoughtful and suggest great hospitality and care. It’s probably too late to order your Thankgiving centerpiece, but I thought I would include a list of a few local florists with online sites to showcase their Thanksgiving centerpieces. Engage in some wishful thinking with me, when you come across an attractive and tasteful arrangement, and also smug condescension when you come across something for which you know you are too sophistocated.

I’ve noticed that most of them seem to get their token Thanksgiving centerpiece from the same company. So much for local artisanship in local businesses.

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone!
