Chinook Book- A Good Catch

Have you gotten yours yet?

The Chinook Book is a book of over 375 mostly useful coupons. It’s a local deal, most coupons are good for purely Portland establishments, although there is a Eugene section (I never go to Eugene, I think that section is a waste of paper). It’s somewhat like the better known Entertainment Book, there are a lot of coupons for dining and the arts, but all of the businesses included in the Chinook Book have something a bit saintly about them. Some of them serve organic and natural foods. Some of them are good at helping the local economy. Some of them sell only sustainable products. Some of them do all of that. Unlike the Entertainment Book, the businesses in the Chinook Book have an agenda more complete than just making a buck by saving you a buck.

And there’s more! The Chinook Book also has coupons for building, remodeling, and interior design.

Here are a few coupon examples:

10% off at ReStore
10% off at the Rebuilding Center
20% off at Tropical Salvage
10% off at Bamboo Revolution
10% off at Rejuvenation

… and of course tons more!

Chinook Books cost $20. Go buy $200 worth of supplies at the Rebuilding Center to remodel your kitchen and the Chinook Book has already paid for itself. You can buy Chinook Book at a lot of different retailers or online, however, many worthy non-profit organizations are using the Chinook Book as a fundraiser. For each Chinook Book you buy, the organization gets $10. I bought mine from a rape crises center. They might be selling them at your kid’s school or at your church.

The Chinook Book coupons are good until Nov. 30th of next year. Get one now and you have 13 months to take it for all it’s worth. I’m going to curse myself for saying this before Thanksgiving but… um… it would make a good Christmans/Chanukah/Kwanzaa/Winter Solstice/PC winter holiday gift.
