Mom’s Junque on Belmont

Posted By Lauren

Mom’s Junque thrift store is exactly what it sounds like.

Lisa began Mom’s Junque last August as a way to help her mother get rid of some of unnecessary accumulated stuff. Now Lisa mostly gets her goods from auctions but there are still quite a few bits donated from her mother. This thrift store has a wide variety of household and adornment items including clothes, personal accessories, furniture, and dishware. Most items appear to be vintage, and many are, but Mom’s Junque sells both recent and old stuff. None of the items are clearly dated, so if you’re looking to do some antique shopping, you may want to be wary. Some of Mom’s signature kitsch probably came out of the factory last month. However, almost all items are $20 or less, so you may end up with a quirky old classic steal. There is even an aged looking green glass bunch of grapes that lights up ($20). Most of the adorable ornamental bowls and ashtrays range from $1-$5. Lisa says most of the store’s sales come from dollar buys.

Lisa’s mother is still very involved with the store. She makes dolls and junk art to sell. Mom also supplies a lot of the furniture. She finds broken pieces that people have abandoned, fixes, and refurbishes them. If she’s not in the store, there’s a good chance she’s in the back with her power tools.
