Fish In a Little Water

Posted By Lauren

There is little more disconcerting than walking into a restaurant and seeing a small tank full of very large fish. Overgrown fish with nothing better to do than bump into one glass wall, turn around and bump into another, everyday just another day of tail chasing doughnuts. If it’s just a holding tank for fish to be served and eaten, that’s one thing but if these fish are for decoration, it’s very bad taste. Claustraphobic fish suggest neglect and poor health. These are the last people I want serving me food.

Don’t think that home aquariums are off the hook. What does it say about a home to have a cramped fish tank? Is this a decorator who cares about atmosphere and space? Is this a kind, attentive host? Pet fish can add a colorful, lively, and exotic flair to a living space but when the world is evidently caving in on the fish, I can only imagine that my host doesn’t really care about the rest of the world and may not have my best interests in mind.
